The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) on September 30, 2026, notified regarding the Procurement of Medical Equipment.
ESIC has reiterated instructions to ensure that procurement of medical equipment is need-based, properly planned, transparent, competitive and completed within defined timelines. Hospitals/Medical Colleges must assess actual requirements, infrastructure, manpower and utilisation before procurement; avoid restrictive specifications; conduct pre-bid meetings and market consultation where tenders fail; and follow the Manual for Procurement of Goods, 2024 regarding equipment demonstrations. Annual procurement calendars, stage-wise timelines and close monitoring are required to minimise delays. Institutions must also consider life-cycle costs, including consumables and AMC/CMC, ensure timely maintenance arrangements, and submit complete proposals to Headquarters. Matters falling within delegated powers and existing GFR/CVC/MoE guidelines are to be decided at the institutional level without unnecessary reference to Headquarters.
